Annual General Meeting

You are cordially invited to join the Annual General Meeting of the PTA being held at the school on 8^th November at 3.30 in classroom 5J (Mrs Johnston classroom).

 The PTA is involved in various projects throughout the year and supports the school by:

       organizing the Mid-Summer Event.  

       arranging the Children’s discos, Pantomime, purchasing Christmas crackers, Christmas presents for all the key stage one children, sponsoring Sports Day to name but a few. 
       purchase of additional equipment and funding for items which would not otherwise be possible from the school’s budget.   

Everyone who is a parent or carer of a child attending Darlinghurst is automatically a member of the PTA.  The Committee, which is made up of parents, support and teaching staff, meets approximately once per term and is elected at the AGM.  There are current vacancies on the Committee for a Treasurer and Secretary as well as Committee Members. If you would like to be nominated as a for one of the above positions please complete the slip available from the  School Office  and return it to the school office no later than Thu 7^th November.  We would like to recruit as many new members (male and female) as possible to help with the events planned for Christmas and forthcoming year.

 If you would like to be nominated as Chair of the PTA one again please complete the slip  and return it to the school office no later than Thursday 7^th November; if you would like to discuss the role of the Chair please contact me via the School Office.

Darlinghurst is having a Big Coffee Morning on Friday 28th September

School are holding a coffee morning on Friday 28^th September from 9.00am right the way through until 11.30am. Everyone is welcome to attend especially new Reception class parents

 

The PTA are supporting the event and willing be running a second hand Uniform sale –– and providing tea, coffee and cake. There will also be stalls selling cards and jewellery and the opportunity to have your nails done while drinking coffee and having a chat.

 

This event will be in aid of the Macmillan Cancer support charity in memory of Martin Rice our much loved former Site manager.

 

Please take the opportunity to get together with other mums, dads and carers, share your thoughts, views and experiences and relax over a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake as well a support this very worthwhile charity

Bags 2 School - 27th September

Dear Parent / Guardian

We are pleased to announce that the PTA has once again organised a textile collection with Bag2School in order to raise funds for more playground equipment.

Bag2School are the UK’s leading textile recycler and fundraiser working with schools and since its inception in 2001 they have now paid out over £10 million. As well as raising vitally needed funds for our school, it also helps the environment by helping to divert unwanted textiles away from landfill.

A recent DEFRA report has shown that textile collection schemes are helping to reduce the volume of textiles discarded as municipal solid waste. However it is a fact that as a nation we still send 1,081,000 tonnes of textiles to landfill every year.

By getting involved in our Bag2School collection, you have an opportunity to sort through your cupboards and wardrobes and donate unwanted textiles in the bag provided – this can include adults’ and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, bags, soft toys, curtains and bedding (not duvets or pillows).

We will receive £500 per tonne or £0.50/kg which will be a great boost for our fundraising. In addition it will also raise awareness amongst the children of the benefits of recycling and reuse. If you fill the donation bag and still have more then you can use any other bag to donate your items and don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out as well!

Bag2School will be collecting from our school on 27th September. Please bring your bag (or bags!) to the main School gate on the left (by the bins –PLEASE ) and help us have a really good collection.
