Christmas Update

Dear Parents / Carers

With Christmas fast approaching we thought we’d update you on our plans for the festive season:

The Darlinghurst 2010 School Calendar – following its huge popularity last year we have once again produced a calendar with school term and holiday dates, as many school events as can be pre-arranged, and illustrated it with children’s self portraits. An example of the calendar will soon be available for you to view in the office reception area and calendars (priced £2.50 each or £2 each for two or more) can be ordered on the reply slip attached to this letter.

Letter from Father Christmas – We have again made an agreement with Father Christmas that he will write to your children if we get £2.00 to cover postage from the North Pole. As this was very popular and Father Christmas was ever so busy doing the letters we have included 2 reply slips if other family members wish to hear from Santa.
Last date for posting is 11th December so make sure your request is in before then.

Christmas Raffle – our ever popular Christmas raffle will be drawn after the children’s evening Christmas performance on the 10th December. Strips of raffle tickets for you to buy £1 a strip are being sent out, please could we ask that a name and contact number are written on each ticket ,as each strip is divide into 5 separate tickets and we don’t want anyone to miss out due to no contact on the ticket.
We would ALSO be delighted to receive your donations of Christmas goodies to go into the RAFFLE. Thank you.

Christmas Quizzes & Competitions – This year we are running separate festive competitions or quizzes for each school year. The cost is 50p per entry and the prizes will be Chocolate Selection Boxes for the children. Quiz sheets will be sent home soon and the last date for entries will be Friday 11th and the winners will be announced on Wednesday 16th December

Whodunnit?

Murder Mystery Night on Saturday 14th March 7.30 - 10.30.

THAT'S THIS WEEKEND!

Tables of 8, bring your own drink and nibbles. This is promising to be a fantastic evening. The actors have been busy preparing for several weeks already. Some of them will be recognisable from the panto at the Palace Theatre earlier this year. We have had enquiries for tickets from people who have seen a previous murder and can't wait to see another! Don't worry, you don't have to dress up or act. You just need a team of people who fancy their chances at solving a murder case and enough food and drink to see you through the evening. A 'detective' will help lead us through the process.

DON'T DELAY - GET YOUR TICKETS TODAY!

Tickets £5 each from Mrs Johnston.

Dear Parents / Carers

With Christmas fast approaching we thought we’d update you on our plans for the festive season:

Discos

Years 1, 2 &3 will be catered for on Wednesday 3rd December straight after school until 4.30. (We will be holding a non-uniform day for those classes so that children coming to the disco will not need to bring in a change of clothes). The cost is £1.50 per child and they will be provided with unlimited squash and/or water, a hot dog and a packet of sweets on departure. The disco will be run by teachers and PTA members, so there is no need for parents to be with their children.
After the disco the children should be collected from the French room

Years 4 – 6 inclusive Children in the upper school will have their very own disco on the same day between 5.00 pm and 6.00pm. There will be no need for parents to attend. The cost is £2.00 and children will all receive a free drink of their choice, hot dog and sweets, there will be other refreshments available at a nominal charge.
Please ensure that the children are collected on time at 6.00pm, as they will not be allowed home unaccompanied. After the disco the children should be collected from the Hall Door next to the Kitchen.

Please see notices around school for price lists.

Wrist bands for both discos will be on sale in the school from Monday 24th November or can be ordered on the reply slips sent home with the children.

The Darlinghurst 2009 School Calendar

Following its huge popularity last year we will once again be producing a calendar with school term and holiday dates and as many school events as can be pre-arranged. This year not only will it be illustrated with the children’s self portraits but also all members of the school community to celebrate the schools 40th Anniversary.
An example of the calendar will be available for you to view in the office reception area and calendars (priced £2.50 each or £2 each for two or more) can be ordered on the reply slips provided.

Letter from Father Christmas

We have again made an agreement with Father Christmas that he will write to your children if we get £1.50 to cover postage from the North Pole. This was so popular last year that we have provided 2 reply slips if other family members wish to hear from Santa – if this is still not enough please write the details on another slip of paper. Last date for posting is 12th December so make sure your request is in before then.

Christmas Raffle

Our ever popular Christmas raffle will be drawn after the children’s evening Christmas performance on 11th December. Strips of raffle tickets for you to buy will be sent to you shortly but, in the meantime we would be delighted to receive any donations of Christmas goodies to go into the hampers.

Thank you.

NEWS UPDATE

Hi Everyone,

JUST LIKE TO REMIND YOU OF WHATS HAPPENING WITH THE PTA OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

FIRSLY YOU WOULD, HOPEFULLY ALL OF SEEN THE LETTER SENT OUT, AS PER BELOW RE THE AGM.

If you can spare some time do please come along.

Re : Annual General Meeting

You are cordially invited to join the Annual General Meeting of the PTA being held at the school on Tuesday 30th September at 7.30pm.

The PTA is involved in various projects throughout the year and supports the school by :
organising the Mid-Summer BBQ
arranging the Christmas discos, Pantomime, purchasing Christmas crackers, the presents for the younger children,
sponsoring Sports Day
providing additional equipment which would not otherwise be possible from the school’s budget.

Everyone who is a parent or carer of a child attending Darlinghurst is automatically a member of the PTA. The Committee, which is made up of parents, support and teaching staff, meets approximately once per term and is elected at the AGM.

There are some vacancies on the Committee for new members, i.e. an assistant Treasurer is required to help cover at busy times of the year , so, if you would like to nominate (or be ominated) as a Committee member please complete the slip , on the letter you received from school and return it to the school office no later than Friday 26th September.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the meeting

Yours sincerely,

Debbie Wood
Chair, PTA
